Oxford Homepage

Oxford City is utterly enchanting and should be near the top of any traveller's list of places that must be visited.

Oxford's surprisingly compact city centre can be thoroughly explored on foot or bicycle and remains breathtakingly medieval despite the City Council's ongoing policy of spending huge sums of local tax-payers' money on hideous and unpopular 'modernisation' schemes.

Just one hour's drive from Heathrow Airport, Oxford offers a fantastic range of places to stay and is significantly cheaper than the capital city, London, which can be easily reached by train or reasonably-priced luxury coach.

When visiting Oxford be sure to constantly look upward; every other building in the historic centre is a feast of intricate ornate carvings, statues and gargoyles such as the handsome fellows atop the railings at the rear of the Sheldonian Theatre pictured above.
